Zoologie
La Ménagerie Foraine

Zoölogie – La Ménagerie Foraine

opens the doors to a wondrous world inspired by the history of travelling menageries.

Four animal trainers move among imposing mechanical animals, each with its own character, behaviour, and presence in the space.

In this universe, a constant interplay of gazes, tension, and trust unfolds: who leads, who follows?

A Dialogue Between Human and Animal

In Zoölogie, the relationship between human and animal is not told, but performed.

Between the animal trainers and the mechanical animals, a physical and visual dialogue unfolds that constantly shifts between control and release, between mastery and surrender.

At times tender, at times unpredictable — but always in direct interaction with the audience.

The performance builds up as a series of encounters within a larger living tableau, in which each animal and performer carries its own role and dynamic.

Between Wonder and Reflection

Zoölogie

is a visual universe in which mechanics and imagination come together in a vivid, living scene.

The experience moves between wonder and a subtle reflection on our relationship with the animal world — without didactics, but through presence, play, and imagination.

An ideal experience for those in search of:

  • a visual, mobile street theatre performance

  • a visually rich universe featuring mechanical animals

  • a live performance combining music and juggling

  • a performance exploring human–animal relationships

  • a flexible production for festivals and public space

  • a universe adaptable for both daytime and evening settings

  • expandable into fire and light-based contexts

Individually deployable

installations

Within Zoölogie – La Ménagerie Foraine, several figures can also be deployed individually as autonomous installations within a programme or public context.

In this way, Hector (the Bengal tiger), Delphine (the juggling octopus), and Josephine (the hippo) can each appear separately as visual mechanical installations with their own dramaturgy and presence in space.

Each figure carries its own character and rhythm, while remaining connected to the larger universe of Zoölogie — where human, animal, and machine engage in a poetic tension and dialogue with one another.

“A world that feels both strange and familiar, where each animal is given its own presence.”
