Custom Scenographic Installations
Atlas Festival
A Living Temporary Scenography
For Atlas Festival, De Machienerie developed a temporary scenography designed to engage with the dynamics of the festival and its visitors.
In the public space, an open visual landscape emerges where flora and human encounter intersect. The scenography functions as an evolving framework, continuously adapting throughout the festival to its audience and surroundings.
Lierelei (Lier 2022)
a poetic urban intervention
For Lierelei, a visual trail was developed that weaves itself into the urban landscape.
The installation invites visitors to slow down and observe, allowing passers-by to become part of a temporary scenographic environment.
Mammoeth Hoboken
An archaeological sculpture in public space
For this project, a monumental installation was developed, referencing vanished landscapes and prehistoric imagination.
A scenographic object that embeds itself in its surroundings, adding a new layer to the site.
Wintervuur – Orangerie
A warm scenographic construction
For "Wintervuur", a temporary Orangerie was created as a scenographic meeting place within the festival.
A structure in which light, warmth, and materials come together to form an intimate public space.
Kraken – Zomer van Antwerpen
a playful world in motion
Kraken was developed as an interactive installation within the festival context of "Zomer van Antwerpen".
A playful scenography in which water, movement, and audience continuously influence one another.
Works in dialogue with place
Over the years, De Machienerie has also developed various smaller, site-specific interventions within festivals and public space, each tailored to the location and programme.
Custom-made projects are not exceptions within our practice, but an essential part of it. Every context gives rise to new forms, ensuring that each project remains unique and non-reproducible.
Sustainability also plays a role in this process: we work with materials and structures that are often reusable or adaptable within new projects.
