Our Dancing Flamingos
A moving mechanical installation
After twenty years, a long-awaited and joyful event finally takes place.
The dancing flamingos are reunited with their instructor. All this time, they have faithfully practised the same dance steps, over and over again — an endless repetition of movement and rhythm.
For years, nothing changed.
But now, a new moment arrives.
At last, they are given the chance to learn a new, wondrous choreography.
“Dancing flamingos appear and disappear in a soft haze of smoke, as if imagination and movement briefly merge on stage.”
A Poetic Scene of Rhythm and Repetition
Les Flamants Dansants is a visual mechanical installation in which movement and repetition take centre stage.
The flamingos move in a carefully constructed rhythm, somewhere between precision and lightness. What begins as repetition gradually shifts into variation — a subtle change that transforms the entire scene.
The work balances between stillness and humour, between control and release.
A Moment of Renewal
Within this installation, a simple premise — a dance repeated over and over — is opened up by the possibility of change.
The arrival of the instructor marks a turning point: what was fixed is set in motion again.
A small shift, with a large effect.
