Les fabuleux aventures
de Marquis De Quevilly
Mechanical floating structure
In the early days of aviation, when flight was still a dream, there lived the Marquis de Quevilly.
Driven by an almost unshakable belief in his ideas, he devoted his life and fortune to building extraordinary flying machines. He belonged to a generation of pioneers who dared to believe that humankind could take to the skies — despite doubt, failure, and the weight of reality.
Although his machines never truly left the ground, his imagination continued to soar.
Today, that story takes on a new form.
In Les Fabuleuses Aventures de Marquis de Quevilly, his universe is brought back to life through a poetic suspended mechanical installation, where fantasy and historical imagination meet.
“In their little flying machines, the youngest adventurers gaze out at the world with wide eyes, filled with wonder at every gentle movement through the air.”
A Visual Mechanical Installation
Les Fabuleuses Aventures de Marquis de Quevilly is a mobile artistic installation designed as a suspended structure featuring four unique flying machines.
The work draws inspiration from the earliest experiments and visions of aviation pioneers, where technology, dreams, and failure existed side by side.
The installation brings together mechanics and scenography in a layered visual experience, with movement, lightness, and imagination at its core.
A Poetic Reinterpretation of a Forgotten Dream
Rather than reconstructing the story of the Marquis de Quevilly as historical fact, this work reimagines his quest for flight through a poetic lens.
The four suspended structures move in a gentle rhythm, like a fragile memory of a time when everything still seemed possible.
What were once a series of failed experiments are transformed here into a moment of lightness, hope, and imagination.
A Story That Carries Its Audience Along
This visual installation was developed for cultural programming across a variety of contexts, including urban projects, summer programmes, and public spaces.
Its mobile structure allows the work to be integrated flexibly into different environments while preserving its scenographic quality and artistic integrity.
The combination of mechanical movement, historical reference, and imagination creates a quiet yet powerful presence in the public realm.
